Agriculture prices sell off with other commodities

[May 21, 2010]    CHICAGO (AP) -- Grains futures fell Thursday on the Chicago Board of Trade as commodities sold off broadly because of fears of a slowdown in economic growth as the European debt crisis intensifies.

Wheat for July delivery lost 3.75 cents to $4.655 a bushel; July corn dropped 2.75 cents to $3.565 a bushel; July soybeans fell 4.5 cents to $9.34 a bushel; and July oats sank 2.75 cents to $1.925 a bushel.

Beef and pork futures sank on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

June live cattle dropped 1.07 cents to 91.35 cents a pound; August feeder cattle tumbled 2.32 cents to $1.1025 a pound; June lean hogs slid 1.67 cents to 80.35 cents a pound; and July pork bellies shed 0.45 cent to 100.50 cents a pound.
