[May 22, 2010]  Late registrations for YMCA summer camps -- Kid Camp and Preteen Camp -- are still being accepted through May at an increased rate. Space is limited so don’t delay. Both camps will be at the Y Activity Center, and the hours are 6:30 a.m.-6 p.m. Activities will include games, arts and crafts, character development lessons, swimming, field trips, outdoor play, and so much more.

Weeball is an instructional program where participants are taught basic baseball skills, including the proper way to throw, catch, hit and run bases. An abbreviated game will also be played. This program is for kids 4-6 years old and will meet on Saturdays, June 5-26.

Sports of All Sorts is a program for kids 4-6 years old that introduces them to soccer, basketball, baseball and football. This program will meet from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. June 14-17. Find out which sport your child is interested in.

Travel "Around the World in 4 Days" with the YMCA Summer Art Camp and Atlanta Art Camp. Join Marion Doble as she helps participants make art from many countries, including masks from Africa, painting from France and so much more. This program is for kids in first through sixth grade and is scheduled for June 21-24. Summer Art Camp will meet from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Y Activity Center in Lincoln. Atlanta Art Camp will meet from 1 to 3 p.m. at the Atlanta Park.

YMCA Girls Basketball Camp, a program for girls in first through sixth grade, will run June 21-24. Carol Wilson, Lincoln College women’s basketball coach, will instruct participants on the fundamentals of basketball, including dribbling, passing, shooting and defense. This camp will be at the Lincoln Center on the Lincoln College campus. Register today to avoid any fee increases.

Nursing Homes

YMCA Golf Clinic is for kids in kindergarten through eighth grade. Sessions will be at the Lincoln Elks Club course. Session A will be June 21-24, when participants will be taught the fundamentals of golf, including club choice, form, stance and swing technique. Lessons will be customized to improve each participant’s skills.

YMCA swim lessons begin June 21 at the Lincoln Elks Club pool, with either morning or evening sessions. This program is for kids 6 months to 12 years at various skill levels. The program fills up quickly so don’t delay, register today.

Gift certificates for swim lessons make great gifts. The YMCA offers gift certificates in any amount for any program.

The fourth annual Cow "Chip" Bingo fundraising event was on May 15. The YMCA will announce the Cow Bingo winner and winning sponsor in the coming weeks. Thanks for helping to make this event such a success.
