At the end of the Tuesday night Lincoln City Council meeting, Les Plotner was honored as the retiring city treasurer.

During discussion, city attorney Bill Bates spoke about Plotner, saying he had been Bates' mentor and friend.

Alderman Buzz Busby also spoke, saying he was sorry he was losing his city treasurer but very happy that he was not losing his best friend.

Plotner introduced his wife, Gretchen, who said she was attending her first and last meeting of the council.

Outside council chambers a cake says what is felt by all in attendance at the informal reception.

A table decorated with money seems fitting and proper for a retiring treasurer.
