In the first game, Breanna Waller was the winning pitcher for the
Eagles, pitching a complete game and striking out four. Hitting
stars for the Eagles were Sydney Johnson, slugging a two-run homer
in her first at-bat; Jazzminn Morecraft, who drove in the winning
run with a walk-off double; Grace Hemenway, who drove in three runs;
and Hailey Moore, who added two RBIs in the winning effort. Heather
Curry, Waller, Alexis Van Hook and Megan Snodgrass also had a hit
each, with Waller and Van Hook each adding an RBI. In the second
game, Illini Central went ahead 11-0 before the Eagles mounted a
comeback. Heather Curry drew the loss on some early season fielding
miscues, with Morecraft and Waller also providing pitching support.
The game ended with the Eagles loading the bases after scoring
six runs in the final inning, but a nice defensive play by the
Cougars preserved the victory.
