[May 29, 2010]  Burgrabe's Eagles and the Illini Central Cougars each made their Bronco League debut on Breezy Field in Lincoln Thursday night and split a doubleheader, with Burgrabe's winning the first game 9-8 and Illini Central taking the nightcap 22-19.

InsuranceIn the first game, Breanna Waller was the winning pitcher for the Eagles, pitching a complete game and striking out four. Hitting stars for the Eagles were Sydney Johnson, slugging a two-run homer in her first at-bat; Jazzminn Morecraft, who drove in the winning run with a walk-off double; Grace Hemenway, who drove in three runs; and Hailey Moore, who added two RBIs in the winning effort. Heather Curry, Waller, Alexis Van Hook and Megan Snodgrass also had a hit each, with Waller and Van Hook each adding an RBI.

In the second game, Illini Central went ahead 11-0 before the Eagles mounted a comeback. Heather Curry drew the loss on some early season fielding miscues, with Morecraft and Waller also providing pitching support.

The game ended with the Eagles loading the bases after scoring six runs in the final inning, but a nice defensive play by the Cougars preserved the victory.

Hitting stars for the Eagles in the finale were Waller, 3 for 3 and two RBIs; Van Hook, 3 for 3 and two RBIs; Snodgrass, 2 for 2 with one RBI; Kimberly Rhoades, 2 for 3 and one RBI; Johnson, 2 for 3 and two RBIs; Kayla Meagher, 2 for 3 and three RBIs.
