Red Lions come in 2nd in volleyball regional

[November 01, 2010]  LANSING, Mich. -- The Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University took the No.1 seed Maranatha Baptist Bible College volleyball team to five games before dropping the championship match  of the NCCAA regional tournament 28-16, 16-25, 25-18, 21-25, 13-15.

LCU, 18-12 for the season, will now await the decision of the selection committee to see if they receive an "at-large" bid to the national finals in Kissimmee, Fla.

In what LCU coach Jason Farr called "a hard-fought match," the Red Lions were led by Krystine Schnautz with 31 kills, 13 digs and seven blocks; Jamie McFadden's 23 kills, one service ace, 10 digs and three blocks; and Emily Sheley's 16 kills, one dig and eight blocks. Lydia Bunting did a good job of setting up the attackers with 47 assists, four digs and five blocks, and Anna Devillez added nine digs. Rachel Langseth also contributed with three kills, five digs and four blocks.
