[November 02, 2010]  WASHINGTON (AP) -- Democratic Party chairman Tim Kaine says President Barack Obama is getting too little credit for keeping the economy afloat amid financial instability at home and around the world.

Kaine acknowledges in an MSNBC interview on election morning that many people still intensely dislike the more than trillion-dollar health care overhaul that Obama and Democrats pushed through Congress.

But at the same time, he maintains "everything the president has done has been to shore up the economy" and put America back on a growth path. The former Virginia governor said he didn't think Obama overreached on his legislative goals when he was elected two years ago, saying, "When you have the margin, I think you should use it."
