Zontians attend annual fall conference

[November 05, 2010]  Members of the Zonta Club of Lincoln recently attended the Zonta District 6 Fall Conference. The annual conference, entitled "Crossroads and Opportunities," took place in Bloomington Oct. 15-17. 

During the three-day meeting, over 134 women representing Zonta clubs from Illinois, Indiana and Wisconsin gathered to hear keynote speakers, vote on advocacy projects and attend educational workshops.

Becky Werth, club president, participated in the conference as the club's voting delegate, and Dr. Susan Harmon attended as the alternate. Other members attending were Mary George, Area 3 director, and Chris Huff.

Founded in 1919, Zonta International is a global organization of executives and professionals working together to advance the status of women worldwide through service and advocacy. Zonta International is made up of nearly 31,000 members belonging to 1,200 clubs in 66 countries and geographic areas.

Chartered in 1957, the Zonta Club of Lincoln meets on the second Tuesday of every month. For more information, contact Marilyn Armbrust at 217-732-4261.

Join the local club at their 46th annual turkey dinner on Sunday at Lincoln Community High School. They will be serving from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Carryouts are available.

Proceeds support Zonta Women's Career Scholarship program and other service projects.
