[November 08, 2010]  The Lincoln College soccer team made history Saturday by defeating MCC Blue River (12-8) in the Central District championship. The win means the Lynx will head to the NJCAA Division I national tournament in Tyler, Texas, Nov. 18-21.

Lincoln coach Ben Massena's squad continues to add to the record books for the LC soccer program, now with the first-ever trip to the national tournament.

The first half saw Lincoln have 12 chances on goal with MCC getting only one chance. However, the score stayed 0-0.

At halftime, the Lincoln coaches told the boys to relax, have fun and continue pressing the issue in front of the goal. After a couple of tactical switches the coaches let them get out and play.

Stiven Salinas was able to find Edwin Moalosi for the opening goal, and that led Lincoln to the victory. Moalosi paid the favor back just a few minutes later when he found Salinas down the middle of the field and Stiven took the ball all the way into the goal. The third and final goal came from Anthony Lopez slotting Rodrigo Koernig, who ripped a shot into the side netting.

Jarod Thomas ended the game in goal with two saves and no goals allowed in the match.
