In the letter, he
wrote:
"I am submitting my letter of resignation as Fire Chief of the
Lincoln Fire Department. My last day of employment with the City of
Lincoln will be Friday November 26, 2010.
"I have accepted
the position of Fire Chief with the Chippewa Wisconsin Fire
District.
"I greatly
appreciated the opportunity to serve the citizens of Lincoln, with
the support and cooperation of our firefighters, you and the city
council members, department heads and city employees, neighboring
fire and emergency agencies, and the community."
Hulett's resignation came as no surprise to the council, as they
had been advised several weeks ago that he was on the short list for
the position in Wisconsin.
After reading the letter of resignation, Snyder said that there
would be time in the next couple of weeks for proper "goodbyes" and
"thank-yous" but he wanted to immediately thank Hulett for all that
he has done for the city.
Moving on, Snyder said that effective Nov. 26, he would appoint
Mark Miller, assistant fire chief, to be an interim chief.
He added that before beginning an official search for a new
chief, there is a need to do some updating on the current job
description and responsibilities of the position. He wants that to
be done beforehand so candidates will know what is to be expected of
them before they apply.
