MTI Eagles play in tournament

[November 11, 2010]  The MTI Illinois Eagles played in the Des Moines West Side Classic Youth Football Tournament in Des Moines, Iowa, on Halloween weekend. Playing against all-star teams from Iowa, they went 1-2 over the weekend, winning fourth place overall in the tournament.

They brought home a trophy and medals.

First they had a Friday night game under the lights and won 18-0. Their second game was Saturday afternoon, and they lost that game 16-8. They played their third game Sunday morning and lost 8-0.

The MTI Illinois Eagles all-star team was made up of six Springfield fifth-graders, seven Rochester fifth-graders, three Chatham fifth-graders and eight Lincoln fifth-graders.

The Lincoln youth were Titus Cannon, No. 3; Seth Huff, No. 5; Drew Bacon, No. 9; Zac Lolling, No. 24; Josh Linares, No. 56; Blake Marlin, No. 60; Brett Marlin, No. 70; and No. 81 Dustin Riedle.

The team was coached by Steve Farris and John Mammen.

The team thanks Brian Huff, Joel Vinson, KC Ultra Graphics, Adam May, the Chad Burnham family and the parents for providing these children with the opportunity to participate in this event.
