[November 11, 2010]  (AP)  Active weather was forecast to move through the middle portion of the country Thursday due to the development of two low pressure systems.

InsuranceThe first low pressure system was expected to begin the day just north of North Dakota before moving northeastward toward the Hudson Bay. The cold front associated with the storm would remain draped from Oklahoma through the upper Midwest. Rain was forecast to fall along this front, with the heaviest precipitation expected over Oklahoma and Missouri. Early in the day, snow would develop in the Dakotas, prompting winter weather advisories for some areas in northern North Dakota.

The second low pressure system was expected to develop in the afternoon and evening as it moved out of the southern Rockies and into the southern Plains. This storm would pick up significant moisture that would produce increasing rain in the southern Plains. Snow was also likely in the Colorado Rockies throughout the day as the storm moved to the east.

Meanwhile, a Pacific cold front was forecast to slam into the Northwest in the afternoon, providing rain and high-elevation snow for Washington and Oregon.

The coldest weather would continue to be in the Intermountain West and Rockies as cold air poured into the area. The warmest conditions would be experienced in the southern Plains.

The Northeast was expected to rise into the 40s and 50s, while the Southeast would see temperatures in the 70s and 80s. The northern Plains would rise into the 30s and 40s, while the Northwest was forecast to see temperatures in the 30s and 40s.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Wednesday ranged from a low of 2 degrees at Big Piney, Wyo., to a high of 88 degrees at Port Isabel, Texas.
