The third-, fourth- and fifth-grade students at Central School learned about Veterans Day from one of their own veterans. Teacher Jennifer Buffington was a member of the Army Reserve and served a tour of duty in Iraq.

Buffington was a specialist with the 1544 Transportation Co. 593D Corps Support Group during her tour last year.

In her talk with the students, she explained the symbolism of the POW/MIA table as well as telling the students about her time in the service and what Veterans Day is all about.

Buffington engaged the students to answer questions.

She wore her fatigues to the assembly but had her dress uniform on display for the students to see.
