[November 15, 2010]  The Lincoln College Fine Arts division is bringing Steve Martin's hilarious, adults-only comedy "The Underpants" to stage Nov. 18-21.The show begins at 7:30 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, with an additional 2 p.m. matinee on Sunday.

Audiences are in for a treat as the Lincoln College production breathes new life into the 1910 German farce "Die Hose," by playwright Carl Sternheim. "The Underpants" tells the story of Louise Maske and how her panties become the talk of the town. Her self-important husband, Theo, has rooms for rent and doesn't notice the fondness the boarders have for his wife. After witnessing Louise's brief incident, two boarders, Versati and Cohen, are determined to woo her. With the help of her nosy neighbor, Gertrude, Louise must decide between being faithful to her condescending husband or the engaging affections of strangers.

The New York Daily News described "The Underpants" as "a hilarious, over-the-top farce," and The Record called the show "an ambitious little comedy, a bawdy farce."

The cast includes Lincoln residents Karolyn White and Cody Follis in the roles of Louise and Theo Maske. LC students Austin Schrader of San Jose as Versati, Cody Ford of Pekin as Cohen, Joy Lowery of Evergreen Park as Gertrude, Tony DiMeo of Wilmette as Klinglehoff, and Mikel Frost of Lincoln as "the King" round out the cast.

The play is directed by Kevin E. Anderson.

Tickets are just $7 for general admission and only $5 for college students and seniors by contacting the Lincoln College box office at 217-732-3155, ext. 280.
