 Each year, thousands of dollars are raised for local programs and
direct assistance to Logan County residents. This year's Red Kettle
campaign goal of $60,000 reflects the increasing demand for both
social services and emergency assistance here in Logan County over
the last fiscal year."We are here year-round for folks in need.
We want to be able to continue to meet the increased need in 2011
and to respond with emergency disaster services as well," said Van
Nydeggen.
She deeply appreciates the compassion and dedication shown by
volunteer bell ringers each year and loves to hear the stories
people share as they give to the campaign -- personal stories of how
they or someone they know has been helped by The Salvation Army.
"Those memories last a lifetime for most families -- receiving a
helping hand in a time of distress and financial hardship or after a
devastating disaster is unforgettable," Van Nydeggen said.
Volunteer bell ringers are still needed for many shifts in Logan
County, and interested individuals, churches, youth groups, families
or retirees may sign up in person at Lincoln IGA on Saturday during
the morning live broadcast or may call the office at 217-732-7890 or
