CHICAGO -- Lincoln College
swimming and diving competed over the weekend at the Phoenix Fall
Classic, hosted by the University of Chicago. This was the best meet
of the semester for the Lynx, by far.
|
The meet started off great with each member on the team hitting
their season best, and some with some a lifetime best. The women's
team set records in four events: 200 medley relay (Welke,
Stopczynska, Ochoa, Carvajal); 400 free relay (Schneider, Ochoa,
Stopczynska, Carvajal); 200 IM, Paula Carvajal; and Sandra
Stopczynska broke her own record in the 200 breaststroke, which she
set at NJCAA national championships last March. The women had an
unbelievable meet.
The men were just as dominant, winning multiple events and
hitting some lifetime bests.
The swimmer of the meet was Bryce Bohman, who set pool records in
the 100 and 200 backstroke events. Bohman's 100 backstroke time also
set a new NJCAA national record, making him the first Lincoln
College swimmer to set a national record in the regular season and
the third LC swimmer ever to ink his name in the record books. With
those times he is currently ranked in the top 15 in the country
among all swimmers on all levels (Division I, II and III).

The men's 200 medley relay (Bohman, Canene, Cury, Alberto-Requejo)
is also ranked in the top 60 in the country.
Right now, the Lynx hold No. 1 rankings in 22 of the 40 swimming
events -- 20 for men and 20 for women -- at the NJCAA national
championships.
