[November 24, 2010]  WASHINGTON (AP) -- President Barack Obama's day will focus publicly on Thanksgiving, although North Korea is bound to occupy some of his time.

In the morning, the president will pardon the national Thanksgiving turkey in a ceremony in the Rose Garden. In the afternoon, the first family will take part in a service event in the Washington area.

Sandwiched between those highlights will be an Oval Office meeting with Defense Secretary Robert Gates. North Korea's artillery attack on a South Korean border island early Tuesday is likely to be a key topic.
