[November 24, 2010]  (AP)  High pressure was forecast to build briefly in the East on Wednesday as a cold front pushes out to sea. Clear skies were expected to accompany the high, but will be short-lived as another storm quickly develops in the Plains and begins to race across the country.

InsuranceWet weather was predicted to slide in from the Mississippi Valley late in the afternoon, most likely reaching the Mid-Atlantic coast by late evening. As the storm spreads over the region overnight into Thursday, it will unfold in similar fashion to Tuesday's bout of wet weather.

Before the storm reaches the East, some showers and winds were forecast in the Plains. While starved of moisture, expect the storm to produce only minimal amounts of precipitation.

In the West, clear skies were anticipated from the Rockies to the Pacific coast as high pressure fills in behind the storm exiting to the Plains.

Along the Pacific coast, a few showers were forecast to pop up as cold air continues to fill into the region, but these will be short-lived with sunny skies filling between wet spells.

Temperatures in the West were expected to remain unseasonably cool through the weekend.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Tuesday ranged from a low of minus 22 degrees at Jordan, Mont., to a high of 89 degrees at Edinburg, Texas.
