[October 04, 2010]  CANTON, N.C. (AP) -- A North Carolina trout farmer thought something was fishy when one of her ponds wasn't fishy enough.

The Asheville Citizen-Times reports Sunburst Trout Farm owner Sally Eason and her husband noticed Thursday that the pond had virtually no fish in it. Thieves had made off with 600 pounds of trout.

Eason says the thieves baited the water so the fish would come to the surface, scooped up the fish and got them into a getaway car. She says the farm had been locked, and there were no signs anyone broke in.

Eason says she told local fish markets to be on the lookout for anyone trying to unload a huge amount of fish.
