[October 08, 2010]  In an effort to tell the story of Community Action Head Start, there will be several open houses throughout the Community Action service area during the month of October, National Head Start Awareness Month.

An open house has been scheduled for 9:30-11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Head Start center at 2018 N. Kickapoo in Lincoln. Two classrooms are housed at the location.

The classrooms will display children's artwork and special projects. The teaching staff will be on hand to answer questions regarding the creative curriculum used in the learning environment. Family partnership staff will be available to provide information regarding enrollment opportunities.

All members of the community are invited to attend.

"There is just nothing like spending time with our Head Start children. Any members of the community who have a special talent to share or who would like to donate time are encouraged to attend and to contact us for volunteer opportunities," said Angela Stoltzenburg, Community Action executive director.

Head Start is Community Action's oldest program, serving 338 children in a six-county service area. For more information about Community Action, call 217-732-2159 or visit www.capcil.org.
