[October 16, 2010]  ATLANTA, Ga. (AP) -- An exhibit of works by Italian Rennaissance painter Titian, including two masterpieces that never traveled before to the United States, is set to open in Georgia.

Hardware"Titian and the Golden Age of Venetian Painting: Masterpieces from the National Galleries of Scotland" begins Saturday at the High Museum of Art in Atlanta.

The exhibition includes the two masterpieces painted for Spain's King Philip II -- "Diana and Actaeon" and "Diana and Callisto" -- and numbers 12 paintings and 13 drawings overall. It runs through January in Atlanta before heading to Minneapolis and Houston.

Tiziano Vecellio, known as Titian, is widely lauded as the greatest Venetian Renaissance artist, praised for his command of color, distinctive brush work and his masterful use of light.
