[October 21, 2010]  Heightened fire danger is expected Wednesday afternoon and Thursday afternoon, especially in the central, east and southeast sections of Illinois.

West-southwest winds will increase Wednesday as a weak trough of low pressure approaches the region. Winds of 15 mph and gusty in combination with low humidity levels of below 30 percent will produce heightened fire danger conditions.

The weather system will move through Wednesday night, allowing high pressure to move toward the area, producing northwest winds of 15 mph and gusty on Thursday. Humidity levels will remain low.

On both days the result will be a heightened fire danger over the region. Open burning is discouraged both Wednesday and Thursday.
