[October 22, 2010]  KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) -- An Afghan official says insurgents have attacked a NATO convoy in southeastern Afghanistan, killing three drivers and setting 13 fuel tankers ablaze.

Muhammed Jan Rasolyar says the attack happened Thursday night in Shahra Safa in Zabul province. He is the spokesman for the provincial governor.

Taliban spokesman Qari Yousef Ahmadi claimed responsibility for the attack.

Insurgents have stepped up attacks on NATO supply convoys in recent months.

International forces and the Afghan army are moving into the insurgency's traditional heartland in the south, but Taliban attacks have increased in other parts of the country.
