Volleyball
On Saturday, the Lincoln College volleyball team (19-15) hosted a
triangular featuring matches with Millikin University's JV team and
Joliet Junior College.
In the first match of the day, LC used a balanced attack and
disciplined defense to defeat the Millikin JV squad 25-21, 25-15,
25-20.
Prior to their afternoon match with Joliet, the Lady Lynx took
time to recognize their five sophomore players and the family
members who have supported them at LC.
The final match of their careers in the Lincoln Center got off to
a rocky start as Joliet jumped out to a 7-1 advantage in set
one. Lincoln would side out and eventually cut the lead to two
points, but Joliet held on for a 25-23 set one victory. In set two
the Lady Lynx regrouped and began working together better as a team,
which led to a 25-19 win. LC kept the positive momentum going to
take set three 25-22. With a 2-sets-to-1 advantage in their favor,
Lincoln could smell victory and would not give JJC any opportunity
to get back in the match as the Lynx jumped all over the Wolves to
win set four 25-8.

LC coach Mark Tippett commented: "We were sharp in all phases of
the game today. I was particularly pleased with the way we attacked
the ball and how we were able to match the defensive intensity of
the two teams we played. Both teams hustled on defense and made us
work hard for every point.
"Our sophomore class has been a very enjoyable group to work with
both on and off the court. I am happy that were able to play
well today and make their final matches in the Lincoln Center into
positive memories."
Lincoln will be in action next on Wednesday as they travel to
Springfield for a 6 p.m. match against Benedictine University.
