[October 26, 2010]  PHILADELPHIA (AP) -- U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan has taken his national teacher recruitment campaign on the road to a town hall meeting with actor-turned-teacher Tony Danza.

Duncan joined local educators and Danza, who spent a year teaching 10th-grade English at Northeast High School in Philadelphia for the A&E reality show "Teach," at Temple University.

Duncan stressed the need for more recruitment to replace the estimated 1 million teachers expected to retire in the next few years. He also emphasized the need to diversify the nation's teaching ranks.

At a separate event later Monday, Duncan and Gov. Ed Rendell were scheduled to discuss the state of education in Pennsylvania.
