Brady: Quinn must apologize for legislator's words

[October 25, 2010]  CHICAGO (AP) -- Republican Bill Brady says Gov. Pat Quinn should apologize for a state senator's comments that referred to Brady as "homophobic," "sexist" and "racist."

State Sen. Rickey Hendon used those words to describe Brady before introducing Quinn at a Chicago rally on Saturday.

Brady told reporters Sunday that the introduction was inappropriate and Quinn owes Illinois an apology.

Quinn says he's never called anyone names and that he didn't approve of the comments.

Hendon, who has launched a campaign for Chicago mayor, has said he won't take back what he said.

The Democrat has said he made the comments because he believes Brady has voted against bills that adversely affect minorities, women and gays.
