Red Lions advance to volleyball semifinals

[October 30, 2010]  LANSING, Mich. -- The Red Lions volleyball team of Lincoln Christian University advanced to the semifinals of the National Christian College Athletic Association Mid-West regional tournament by defeating Kuyper College 25-13, 25-14, 25-11. LCU will play the winner of Moody Bible Institute and Great Lakes Christian College at 6:30 this evening.

Kuyper was no match for the tall front line of the Red Lions as LCU recorded 39 kills and 13 blocks in the three games. Krystine Schnautz recorded 11 kills, five aces, six digs and three blocks; Emily Sheley had eight kills and four blocks; Rachel Langseth added nine kills, one ace, three digs and three blocks; Jamie McFadden contributed eight kills and 10 digs. Lydia Bunting set up the front line with 30 assists, while Anna Devillez came up with 15 digs.

The Red Lions are trying to qualify for the national tournament in Kissimmee, Fla., where they will be seeking their third national championship, having won in 1998 and 2003.
