WL-B baseball

[September 02, 2010]  West Lincoln-Broadwell has split two games this week, defeating Hartsburg-Emden 11-1 and losing to Normal Metcalf 8-5.

HardwareOn Tuesday, Payton Ebelherr (4-0) was the winning pitcher, going four innings, striking out eight Stag hitters and allowing only one hit. Dustin Wilham had the hit for H-E. For the Wolverines, Ebelherr helped his own cause with three singles, two runs scored and two RBIs. Jordan Yarcho and Levi Curry each had two hits and two RBIs. Dalton Presswood, Kyle Fitzpatrick and Brycen Hicks also had hits for WL-B.

On Wednesday, the Wolverines lost even though they had nine hits to Metcalf's four. Brayden Curry (1-1) took the loss on the mound, striking out four, but walking five Metcalf batters. Ebelherr pitched 3 1/3 innings in relief, giving up only one earned run, striking out three and walking no batters. B. Curry, Yarcho and Brock Byrge had two hits each, with one being a triple by Byrge. Hicks and Preston Ebelherr both had two-out hits with RBIs.

WL-B hosts the county tournament beginning at 10 a.m. Saturday against either Hartsburg-Emden or the combined team from Carroll Catholic, Zion Lutheran and New Holland-Middletown. Chester-East Lincoln and Mount Pulaski square off in the second game on Saturday. Then the winners will play at Miller Field for the county championship.
