The
Humane Society purse sale and retail booth at the balloon fest were
both quite successful. The purse sale netted HSLC over $1,300 and
the retail booth netted over $400. Sincere thanks to event
coordinators Lynn White, Dawn Gorman, Rachel Hall and Stacie Wachtel
and all the volunteers who spent many hours of hard work to make
this HSLC's most profitable balloon fest.
The Lincoln Jaycees are looking for volunteers to help
build and run this year's Haunted House. Volunteering can be used to
fulfill required educational community service hours as well as
being a lot of fun! Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.
Anyone interested in volunteering can stop by the Haunted House,
325 S. Chicago St., on Thursday, Sept. 9, 7-10 p.m., to sign up or

The Lincoln Jaycees are a not-for-profit organization serving
Lincoln and the surrounding communities. The Lincoln Jaycees give
young people between the ages of 18 and 40 the tools they need to
build the bridges of success for themselves in the areas of business
development, management skills, individual training, community
service and international connections. The Lincoln Jaycees host
various other community activities such as an Easter egg hunt, their
Breakfast with Santa and Angel Tree.
Membership meetings are at 7 p.m. the third Thursday of every
month at Abraham Lincoln Memorial Hospital. Meetings are open to the
public.
The Lincoln Woman's Club will have their opening meeting
on Wednesday, Sept. 15, at 1 p.m. at the Woman's Club Building.
Richard Sumrall, Lincoln Public Library director, will be the
guest speaker. Devotions will be given by Diane Osborne, and
greeters will be Jackie Campbell, Joyce Board and Judy Fairfield.
Social co-chairs will be Ruth Hoppin and Jan Betzelberger.
Members are asked to bring new socks and items for the troops.
Since this is the first meeting of the season, new members will

Members will also gather on the steps of the Woman Club Building
on Sept. 17 at 3 p.m. to celebrate "Bells Across America" for 200
seconds in observance of the completion of the United States
Constitution.
