[September 13, 2010]  Over the weekend, the Lincoln College men's soccer team played two games that ended in a 2-2 tie with opponents ranked in the top 25 nationally.

InsuranceLC vs. Iowa Central

Lincoln College (4-0-1 overall, 2-0 region and conference) tied national No. 11 Iowa Central (4-0-1) 2-2 on Saturday.

Lincoln opened the scoring in the 32nd minute when Stiven Salinas (Miami, Fla.) took on two players and slotted a ball back to Rodrigo Buitrago (Miami, Fla.), who put the ball in the back of the net. Lincoln would go on to end the half leading with a score of 1-0.

Iowa Central got on the scoreboard at the 64-minute mark and then went up 2-1 several minutes later in the 70th minute.  Despite giving up back-to-back goals, the Lynx were able to bounce back when Salinas found an open Edwin Moalosi (Botswana), who calmly found the side netting to even the score up 2-2.

Misc

Despite having several other chances, Lincoln and Iowa Central ended the double overtime in a draw.

Lincoln takes on No. 22 Johnson County on Sunday at SWIC.

LC vs. Johnson County

Lincoln College (4-0-2 overall, 2-0 region and conference) tied Johnson County (3-1-1) on Sunday. For the second day in a row the Lincoln College men's soccer team took on a ranked opponent and for the second day ended in a double overtime score of 2-2.

Lincoln opened the day scoring at the 12-minute mark when Stiven Salinas (Miami, Fla.) took a free kick that found Rodrigo Koernig (Miami, Fla.), who was able to tuck the ball away. Lincoln followed up with another goal a few minutes later when Edwin Moalosi (Botswana) played a short corner to Salinas, who was able to finish off the play in a goal. Despite having six more shots on goal in the half, Lincoln was not able to capitalize and entered the half leading with a score of 2-0.

The second half was a different story, with Johnson County putting the pressure on Lincoln and scoring with 31 minutes left in the game. They scored their second goal with 30 minutes left in regulation time. Both teams had quality chances but were unable to capitalize on them.

Jarod Thomas played the whole 120 minutes in goal, making eight saves and allowing two goals.

Lincoln takes on No. 14 Lincoln Land in a Region 24 match on Tuesday at 4 p.m. The game will be played at Lincoln.
