[September 15, 2010]  Lincoln College (5-0-2) defeated Lincoln Land (5-2), No. 14 in the nation, by the score of 4-1.

Lincoln opened the game Wednesday by scoring in the third minute of play, when Rodrigo Buitrago (Miami, Fla.) played a short corner to Daniel Marulanda (Miami, Fla.), who tucked the ball into the back of the net. Lincoln soon followed that up when Fernando Cano (Miami, Fla.) found Edwin Moalosi (Botswana) on top of the box, open on a set piece. Moalosi would make the most of the chance and put the ball away. With 20 minutes left in the first half, Lincoln's center midfielder Rodrigo Koernig (Miami, Fla.) intercepted a ball and blasted one from around 25 yards out. Lincoln would end the half up 3-0.

The second half saw Lincoln Land score a goal with around 30 left in the game. Lincoln would soon answer with their fourth and final goal, when Fernando Cano played a pass to Charlie Jones (England), who hit a line drive goal from 30 yards out.

Lincoln coaching comments: "Overall, a great showing against a strong opponent. We are happy with the guys to come out and put a game away in the first 20 minutes. Lincoln Land is always a top team and are tough to beat. We put 90 minutes together and that was the game plan before coming into the game."

Lincoln takes on Region 24 opponent Heartland Community College on Thursday in Bloomington at 7:30 p.m.
