[September 15, 2010]  (AP)  A storm in the northern Plains was forecast to begin to developing Wednesday as low pressure moved out of the Rockies and into the northern Plains. The storm would really start to intensify in the evening hours, with wind speeds increasing and precipitation becoming much heavier.

AsInsuranceide from this storm, the nation wasn't expected to see much poor weather Wednesday. The Northeast would see much nicer weather throughout the day as Tuesday's cloudy conditions dissipated. In the West, forecasters said coastal fog should burn back to the beaches by the early afternoon, leaving sunny skies for the whole region. The Northwest was expected to see a return to cloudy conditions in the afternoon when a Pacific storm system beginning to push a cold front ashore.

In the Tropics, three storms would be spinning Wednesday. Igor, the strongest hurricane of the season, would continue playing chicken with Bermuda, though chances of the storm hitting the United States were low. Julia, another hurricane well to the east, would most likely curve out to sea, having no effect on land. The last storm, which will be the weakest, was Karl. Karl would move over the Yucatan Peninsula but emerge into the Gulf of Mexico later this week. If the storm can pull itself back together after passing over land, it could become a threat to the western Gulf Coast.

Temperatures in the Lower 48 states Tuesday ranged from a low of 19 degrees at Salmon, Idaho, to a high of 109 degrees at Death Valley, Calif.
