HardwareMen's soccer

It was a hard fought game Thursday night that looked like it was going into overtime. Both teams had several quality chances though out the game with Lincoln getting a few good lucks and Heartland hitting the post late in the game. Edwin Moalosi (Botswana) was able to seal the victory when he chipped the goalie in the 89th minute after receiving a pass from Stiven Salinas(Miami, FL)  Jarod Thomas and the back four of Fernando Cano, Tom Spalding, Daniel Marulanda, and Diego Figueroa combined for another shutout win.
Head coach Ben Massena commented:

Misc

"Great showing by the kids to keep playing through all 90 minutes against a good opponent. It came down to a lucky bounce, but our kids fought through. The most positive thing was we started to create some momentum as the game continued, which is a true sign of toughness."

This is the best start to a season in Lincoln College Men's Soccer History!

Women's soccer

Lincoln College women's soccer (0-7) lost to ICC (4-2) in a 2-0 game.

Head coach Amber Angermeier commented:

"Although we didn't come away with the win, the team battled hard against a very good ICC team. The ladies battled hard, eventually giving up the first goal with 20 minutes to play.

"I am very proud of the way we battled tonight. Each player took responsibility for their role and everyone played hard the entire 90 minutes."

Men's golf

Lincoln College defeated Spoon River College in a dual meet at the par-71 Lincoln Elks Club on Thursday. Lincoln scored 316 to Spoon River's 365.

Head coach Kirk Whiteman commented:

"What an impressive round by Lucas Woolridge (Clinton). He shot a 77 in his qualifier the other day and followed up with a 71.

"At the beginning of the year, our freshmen were two to three strokes better than our sophomores Woolridge and Scott. However, Scott was able to pull out a 75 on a very sore back.

"I am just looking forward for all five players to shoot well in the same meet!"
