The Centers for
Disease Control and Prevention recommends that
everyone 6 months of age and older receive the influenza vaccine
this year. However, influenza vaccine for children 6 months to 18
years of age is not currently available. The hours of operation
for vaccines at the health department are 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.
Monday through Friday. No appointment is required. The influenza
vaccine will also be available on the HOPE Mobile beginning Monday
during its regularly scheduled stops. The cost of the seasonal flu
shot is $30. There is no charge to those with a Medicaid or Medicare
card.
The Logan County Department of Public Health recommends that you
take everyday precautions to stay healthy.
-
Cover your nose
and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze. Throw the
tissue in the trash after you use it. If you don't have a
tissue, cough or sneeze into your upper sleeve or elbow, not
your hands.
-
Wash your hands
often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze.
If soap and water are not available, use an alcohol-based hand
rub.
-
Avoid touching
your eyes, nose or mouth. Germs spread that way.
