Red Lions sweep Monmouth tournament

[September 20, 2010]  MONMOUTH -- The Red Lions women's volleyball team of Lincoln Christian College swept the Monmouth College tournament Saturday by defeating Monmouth College 3-0 (25-21, 25-22, 25-18), Robert Morris College 3-2 (25-12, 23-25, 26-24, 25-25, 15-4) and Knox College 3-2 (23-25, 25-10, 22-25, 25-15, 15-10).

LCU, ranked fourth in the nation, improved its season record to 7-2. For her outstanding play for the day, Lincoln High School graduate Jamie McFadden was named to the all-tournament team.

In the first match of the day, against Monmouth, LCU was led by Krystine Schnautz with 17 kills, two assists, 13 digs, three service aces and three blocks. Jamie McFadden had 13 kills, two assists, four digs, two service aces and one block. Lydia Bunting added 34 assists and Anna Devillez had 14 digs.

Against Robert Morris, the Red Lions were led by Schnautz with 27 kills, McFadden with 24 kills and five service aces, Devillez with 12 digs and five service aces, and Bunting with nine digs and 48 assists.

In the nightcap against Knox, McFadden had 23 kills, 10 digs and four blocks, while Schnautz had 14 blocks, five digs and four blocks.

LCU will play at Illinois College against Knox College on Wednesday and at the Millikin University tournament on Saturday.
