Red Lions men's soccer wins, ladies lose

[September 24, 2010]  The men's soccer team of Lincoln Christian University recorded its first win of the season, and the first win for Brent Messimer as a head coach, as the Red Lions defeated MacMurray 4-2 Thursday afternoon.

LCU got a "hat trick" (three goals) from Dave Corcoran and a single goal from Colton Bell. Bell's goal came on a penalty kick. Craig Haskins had two assists and Don Gordon had one. Goalkeeper Chris Strohbeck recorded seven saves.

The Red Lions are now 1-7 for the year and will host Moody Bible Institute on Saturday.

The LCU women's soccer team dropped its game to MacMurray 5-1 Thursday.

Alison Delong scored the goal for the Red Lions, and Ashlan Rose had 15 saves in the goal.

The 1-8 Red Lions will play again next Thursday at Eureka College.
