[September 25, 2010]  LOS ANGELES (AP) -- After engineering the purchases of social game maker Playdom and mobile game maker Tapulous, The Walt Disney Co.'s interactive media group president Steve Wadsworth is resigning.

InsuranceWadsworth, 48, said in an e-mail to employees late Thursday that his desire to pursue other opportunities was too great to ignore.

Wadsworth said he will stay with the company until a successor is named. The announcement comes ahead of the November release of its Nintendo Wii game "Epic Mickey" and the game to go with the movie "Tron: Legacy," set for release around Christmas.

The interactive group has struggled. In the most recent quarter to July 3, revenue grew 74 percent to $197 million, but the unit lost $65 million, down slightly from a $75 million loss a year earlier.
