Together for Lincoln instructions for Sunday

More volunteers needed

[September 24, 2010]  On Sunday, Together for Lincoln will once again blitz the city of Lincoln with acts of love and compassion. So far, 86 service projects have already been approved, with several other projects yet to come such as cleaning up roadways around Lincoln. The variety of projects this year will include home winterization, plumbing repairs, painting and what has become TFL's best-known project: wheelchair ramps.

InsuranceWhile the projects are plentiful, the volunteers have been a bit slim in number this year. At this time last year, Together for Lincoln already had around 700 volunteers signed up, but this year they are sitting just above 400.

All community members are invited to come and participate in this workday. In order to be assigned to a project, simply come to Latham Park this Sunday dressed and ready to serve from 10 a.m. and following, and you will be assigned a project. If your project ends early, you can come back to Latham Park throughout the day and the volunteer coordinators will assign you to a different project. If you have already signed up and have not yet heard your service assignment by Sunday, simply come to Latham Park and you will be assigned from there.

A favorite tradition of Together for Lincoln is to have a community worship service following its day of service. This year's service will once again be at 7 p.m. at the LCU chapel. The service will include the ever-popular video of the Together for Lincoln workday. This year's speaker will be Brian Mills, the vice president of student development at Lincoln Christian University. Mills is able to speak clearly from the Bible in a way that is appealing to young and old alike. He has served at LCU since 2002.
