[September 30, 2010]  ALLENTOWN, Pa. (AP) -- Rabbit is running again, this time to a new home at Pennsylvania's Alvernia University.

The school announced Wednesday that it will house the scholarly archives of The John Updike Society. The organization studies the life and work of John Updike, the acclaimed chronicler of American suburbia whose more than 60 books include "Rabbit, Run."

Alvernia is also hosting the society's inaugural conference, beginning Friday. It's expected to draw scholars from around the world as well as family members and high school classmates.

Alvernia is in Reading (REH'-ding), Pa. Updike was born there and was raised in nearby Shillington. He died last year at the age of 76. He won two Pulitzers, for "Rabbit Is Rich" and "Rabbit at Rest," and two National Book Awards.
