Temporary closing of Keokuk at railroad crossing announced

[March 31, 2011]  Weather permitting, high-speed rail improvements will be made in April at the Keokuk Street crossing in Lincoln, where Illinois Routes 10 and 121 and Business 55 cross the Union Pacific tracks. The crossing will be closed intermittently for four to five days between April 4 and April 19 in order to safely complete the work.

Improvements will include replacing wooden railroad ties with concrete ties and installing a new concrete crossing surface.

Detour routes will be posted. Motorists should expect delays and allow extra time for trips through that area. Please obey the speed limit, observe closure signs and remain alert for workers.
