[April 01, 2011]  Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois will provide scholarships again this year to eligible low-income individuals of high academic merit or potential. The Department of Commerce and Economic Development has made funds available for these scholarships as part of the Community Services Block Grant Scholarship program

To apply for the scholarships, students must meet and fulfill the following requirements:

  • Reside in one of the six counties served by Community Action Partnership of Central Illinois: DeWitt, Fulton, Mason, Menard, Piatt and Logan. Applicants who are full-time students outside the county can still apply as long as their permanent address when not in school is within the county.

  • A survey must be filled out in the county where the applicant resides. This includes family income for the previous year, income for the last 30 days prior to the application and Social Security cards for everyone in the household.

  • Proof of high school diploma, transcript of grades, GED certificate or SAT/ACT scores.

  • Letter of reference from last school attended.

  • Letter of acceptance from Illinois school or training institute applicant plans to attend.

  • An autobiographical sketch with a brief personal history, hobbies, interests, career goals, educational objectives and how the scholarship will be used.

  • One personal reference.

Applications will be accepted beginning Monday. Applicants must have all information delivered to Community Action's offices no later than May 16 by 3 p.m.

For more information, contact the county office at 217-732-2159 and ask for the resource specialist.
