[April 04, 2011]
The Abraham Lincoln Tourism Bureau of
Logan County is inviting the public to come out and celebrate the
accomplishments of 2010 in tourism. On April 12 the tourism bureau
will have their annual showcase event at Rusty's Clubhouse, 2810
Woodlawn Road. This year's festivities will begin at 7:30 a.m. with
a breakfast buffet, followed by introductions of the board of
directors, presentations of annual awards and wrapping up with a
presentation by Mark McDonald of "Illinois Stories."
|
McDonald has worked in television and media relations for 25 years
as a news reporter and anchor, public affairs specialist, and now as
an Emmy award-winning chronicler of life in central and west-central
Illinois. He has the distinction of having interviewed our past
three presidents at some time in their careers. While he enjoyed his
positions in television news and media affairs, his present job as
producer and host of "Illinois Stories" is his favorite. "Illinois
Stories" is an Emmy-award winning series focused on the people and
places of central Illinois.
The 2010 tourism award honorees will include the Logan
Railsplitting Association, the Civil War Statue Committee,
Horsefeathers/Wild Hare Café and Palms Grill as well as some
individuals yet to be disclosed.
Ticket price for the event is $10 per person. The breakfast
buffet will include eggs, casserole, biscuits and gravy, bacon,
sausage, French toast, pancakes, and more.
