[April 04, 2011]  A fundraiser to help Lincolnite Bob Shattuck in his fight against cancer has been planned for Saturday.

The event will be at the Lincoln Banquet Center, 201 Madigan Drive, with music and a silent auction beginning at 7 p.m.

Sandwiches and a cash bar will be available as well as a 50-50 drawing.

There are dozens of silent auction items to bid on, with all the proceeds going to Bob.

There will be a live comedy show beginning at 9 p.m., featuring John Means ("Dr. Gonzo") and Clammy from Mason City Limits. Tickets for the show are $20 and can be purchased at State Bank of Lincoln, Logan County Bank, and Action Rental and Sales. Tickets can also be purchased from "The Walkers," whose names are listed in the accompanying story about Bob and his fight for survival.

During the intermission, there will be a live auction of several special and unique items.

Included in the live auction are a flight and dinner for two to St. Louis, season tickets to Lincoln College basketball, and box seat tickets to a Cards-Cubs game in St. Louis.

Also in the live auction is a fly-in fishing trip for two to the great Canadian north with your own personal Canadian fishing "guide," Bob Arneaud, and 20 others of those who will thereafter become your fishing buddies. The trip departs from Lincoln at noon on Sept. 13 and returns Sept. 19.

Included in the package:

  • Transportation by car from Lincoln to Cloquet, Minn., where you will meet your 20 new fishing buddies

  • Transportation by bus with your new buddies to Savant Lake, Ontario

  • Transportation by plane (because that's the only way to get to where you're going) the last 40 miles to the lodge at Lake Seseganage

More information on the location can be found at http://www.seseganagalodge.com/.
