[April 06, 2011]  CANTON -- The Lady Lynx softball team swept a doubleheader against Spoon River College on Tuesday afternoon.

In the first game, Shelbi Rentmeister (Clinton) picked up the win for the Lynx, allowing only one hit and striking out nine. Her record improves to 5-6.

Blake Walch (Barry) had two doubles and two RBIs, and Karla Shappell (Coal City) was 2-3 with two RBIs. Casey Barretts (Clinton) contributed by hitting a triple in the third inning.

The second game was even better for the Lynx. Jana Wright (Fairfield) picked up her third win of the season and is now 3-7.

Christi Dixon (Decatur) was 2-2 with a double, triple and four RBIs. Krystal Woodworth (Byron) was 1-2 with an RBI. Danielle Stephenson (Campbell Hill) and Casey Barretts each hit a triple for the Lynx.

"Our bats came alive," said LC coach Crystal Wurth. "We hit the ball hard and it kept on rolling. The girls did a nice job of running the bases and stretching hits into extra bases. Hopefully, we can keep the momentum going."

The Lynx now have an overall record of 10-14.

LC travels to Ullin for a doubleheader against Shawnee Community College this afternoon (Wednesday) at 2.
