[April 07, 2011]  Kenton's Cause, the first MPS Walk in Lincoln, will be on April 17 at Kickapoo Creek Park. Registration will begin at noon, with the walk starting at 1 p.m. In the event of bad weather, the walk will take place at the Lincoln Park District's Rec center.

Registration forms are available at Logan County Bank and will be available at the walk also. Donations will be accepted and all money raised will go to the National MPS Society.

Kenton's Cause is in memory of Kenton Fults, who died April 1, 2010, at the age of 16 months of complications from the devastating disease known as MPS.

Mucopolysaccharidoses is a genetic disorder in which the body lacks specific enzymes that are needed to break down and recycle materials in cells. The missing or insufficient enzyme prevents the proper recycling process, resulting in the storage of materials in virtually every cell of the body. This causes damage to the heart, bones, joints, respiratory system and central nervous system. At this time there is no cure for the disease.

Kenton's Cause MPS Walk is to be an annual event.
