Red Lions sweep doubleheader

[April 13, 2011]  ST. LOUIS -- The Red Lions of Lincoln Christian University pounded out 24 hits Tuesday afternoon in sweeping the Soldiers of St. Louis Christian College 5-2 and 15-6.

Larry Weese was the winning pitcher in the first game as he struck out 10 and allowed only three hits. Jared Nassiff won the second game by limiting SLCC to two earned runs in 6 2-3 innings.

For the day Weese had five hits, including three doubles and a triple, with three RBIs and three runs scored; Nassiff had two hits, three RBIs and three runs scored; Andrew Scates had four hits, two RBIs and three runs; Nike Walters had four hits, three RBIs and two runs; Chris Lawson had three hits and three RBIs; Justin Walen had two hits, one RBI and one run; and Samuel Martin added three hits, three RBIs and four runs.

The 5-13 Red Lions will leave Thursday for a 10-day road trip during which they will play doubleheaders against Johnson Bible College, Toccoa Falls, Central Christian College and Atlanta Christian College.
