Lincoln College athletic recognition assembly for national tournament teams April 21

[April 14, 2011]  The 2010-2011 academic year for the Lincoln College athletic teams was the one of the best ever for Lynx teams advancing to national competition. The college will have a special assembly at the Lincoln Center from 3 to 4 p.m. April 21 to honor all of the Lynx teams and athletes that advanced to the national tournaments. The event will include recognition of the teams and comments from the head coaches.

Lincoln College students, parents of the athletes, college employees and the community are invited to join in celebrating the athletic accomplishments of this year's teams.

The men's basketball team finished 28-7 and captured their second national championship in two years, which has been done only twice in the last 25 years.

The men's swimming and diving team finished third in the nation, with 15 all-Americans in over 30 different events. The women's swimming and diving team also finished third in the nation and had 13 all-Americans in over 25 events. Head swim coach Jake Sexton was the national coach of the year and head diving coach Matt Dickinson was the national coach of the year for diving.

The men's soccer team finished fifth in the nation with a record of 18-2-4, capping the best season ever for a men's soccer team at Lincoln College. The soccer team also placed two players on the all-American team.

The wrestling team finished sixth in the nation, with six NJCAA all-Americans who all advanced to the quarterfinals of the national tournament in their respective weight class. The team also boasted five academic all-Americans.
