Jana Wright picked up the win in the first game. Shelbi Rentmeister
came on in the bottom of the seventh inning for the save. The final
score was 13-8. The Lady Lynx worked together offensively to
compile 13 hits. Katie Kramer went 4-4, Christi Dixon went 2-3, and
Casey Barretts hit a two-run homer in the top of the third inning.
The Lynx won the second game 7-6. Shelbi Rentmeister was the
winning pitcher.
The Lynx team had 11 hits. Jana Wright went 2-3, Kristen Cooper
2-4, Katie Kramer 2-3 with a double, and Rachel England hit a home
run in the fifth inning.
At the top of the seventh inning, the Lady Lynx were down by one
run. Cooper led off the inning and reached on an error. After she
advanced to second base, Kramer hit a double to score Cooper, which
tied the game. Kramer advanced to third when Millikin attempted to
throw Cooper out at the plate. Blake Walch came to the plate to
pinch hit and hit a single to advance Katie Kramer to the plate to
take the lead. In the bottom of the seventh, the LC defense was
unstoppable to hold on to the win.
"We battled back and forth and hung in there long enough to get
the win," said Lincoln coach Crystal Wurth. "It was a very good
game!"
The LC softball team travels to Godfrey to take on Lewis and
Clark on Thursday afternoon.
