Long John Silver's closes doors

[April 19, 2011]  Monday evening prior to the voting session of the Lincoln City Council,  Alderwoman Kathy Horn shared that at 9 a.m. Monday the Long John Silver's restaurant on the city's west side closed.

According to Horn's unnamed sources, employees were notified yesterday morning that the store was not turning a profit, would close immediately and they were all without jobs.

By the end of the day the building was boarded up and a large banner posted, inviting would-be patrons to visit one of the two locations in Springfield.

Acting just as fast as the closing of the store, the corporate website no longer shows the Lincoln location.

The eatery has been located on Woodlawn Road for decades.
