More rain forecast with possibility of severe storms on Friday

[April 21, 2011]  The National Weather Service in Lincoln released a hazardous weather outlook at 5:35 a.m. Thursday for portions of central Illinois, east-central Illinois and southeast Illinois.

This outlook is for the counties of Cass, Champaign, Christian, Clark, Clay, Coles, Crawford, Cumberland, DeWitt, Douglas, Edgar, Effingham, Fulton, Jasper, Knox, Lawrence, Logan, Macon, Marshall, Mason, McLean, Menard, Morgan, Moultrie, Peoria, Piatt, Richland, Sangamon, Schuyler, Scott, Shelby, Stark, Tazewell, Vermilion and Woodford.

Thursday and Thursday night

Thunderstorms are expected to develop tonight, especially after midnight, with locally heavy rainfall possible. Severe weather is not expected through Friday morning.

Friday through Wednesday

A warm front lifting north will keep the chance for thunderstorms Friday and Friday night. Severe storms will be possible Friday evening as a cold front moves east across the area. Then an extended period of thunderstorms is possible from Sunday through Wednesday.
