[April 27, 2011]  MEDINA, Ohio (AP) -- The eggs may not be fresh, but they are drawing attention at an Ohio supermarket.

A female mallard duck is nesting atop bags of mulch just outside the main entrance of a Giant Eagle store in Medina (meh-DY'-nuh) in northeast Ohio. A small sign advises shoppers to beware of the bird and to grab their mulch from another pile.

The Akron Beacon Journal reports the duck is sitting on at least 10 eggs in a nest assembled on top of an 8-foot stack of bags. Store officials think she laid the eggs a couple of weeks ago.

A store spokeswoman told the newspaper two male mallards were seen in the parking lot earlier this spring.
